The Largest Free-Standing Scaffolding Wrap in London:

The Largest Free Standing Scaffolding Wrap in London: A Show-Stopping Print by PPM

At Project Print Management, we specialise in turning bold visions into bigger realities — and our latest installation at Gunnersbury Park might be our most ambitious yet.

We recently produced, and installed a 125-metre-long by 10-metre-high free-standing scaffold wrap — now believed to be London’s largest of its kind. Commissioned for Krankbrother’s iconic summer event, this monumental wrap served as the visual centrepiece of the main stage, spelling out “LONDON” in colossal white-on-black lettering across a completely free-standing scaffold structure.

Dimensions: 125m wide x 10m high
Format: Free-standing layer scaffold with printed mesh wrap
Location: Gunnersbury Park, London
Purpose: Stage branding, backdrop, wind barrier & crowd orientation

A Structure This Big? 100% Free Standing Scaffolding Wrap

What sets this project apart is not just its size, but the fact that it was entirely self-supportingnot fixed to any building or external framework. The wrap was fixed to a custom-designed Layher scaffold system, which was built from the ground up to support both the scale and wind load of the printed mesh.

A structure of this size becomes more than just visual — it becomes architectural. Standing as tall as a three-storey building and longer than a football pitch, this installation required extensive CAD modelling, structural calculations, and precise coordination with both the event production and engineering teams.

Designed to Withstand the Elements

Large-format printed wraps at this height must be wind-permeable and tensioned with millimetre precision. We used a heavy-duty mesh PVC, designed to allow airflow while retaining strong visual clarity from the audience perspective. Every section of the wrap was reinforced with welded hems and eyelets, tensioned with bungee ties across the full scaffold grid.

To resist high winds and movement during the event, the scaffold base was ballasted strategically and engineered with safety margins above event standards. All calculations were verified by structural engineers, and final inspections were conducted on-site before showtime.

Built for Spectacle Free Standing Scaffolding Wrap

Krankbrother are known for transforming public spaces into unforgettable music events — and this massive wrap played a crucial role in defining the aesthetic of their June 15th Gunnersbury Park show.

Our wrap not only marked the skyline with a bold “LONDON” statement but also served multiple production purposes:

  • Staging Backdrop: Provided a clean, branded visual for the main stage.

  • Site Orientation: Helped attendees navigate and locate key areas in the park.

  • Photo Moment: Designed with social sharing in mind — hundreds of attendees captured it.

  • Wind Barrier: Helped reduce crosswind effects around the stage area.

This was more than just a wrap — it was a full-scale brand activation structure, built to meet both aesthetic and structural demands.

Precision at Every Stage

From design concept to final installation, the wrap required:

  • 3D CAD planning for accurate layout, alignment and tensioning

  • Panel-by-panel printing to ensure seamless alignment of the “LONDON” typography

  • Logistics coordination to meet the tight build schedule before the show

  • Specialist installation teams to handle scaffold and print setup

Despite weather shifts and tight deadlines, our team delivered the full project on time and with zero compromise on visual quality.

A Landmark in Event Branding

This project raises the bar for what’s possible with temporary structures at live events. At PPM, we believe that branding should be more than just decorative — it should define the space, set the tone, and create lasting memories.

This one-of-a-kind Free Standing Scaffolding Wrap did exactly that — and it’s now one of our proudest large-format installations to date.
